The cheerleading squads are assigned to football teams and accompany them to ALL their home and away games—INCLUDING post-season play at invitational bowls and regional/national competitions. The cheerleaders cheer during the games and also perform at halftime.
What to Wear to Practice
Cheerleaders should wear shorts, t-shirts and athletic shoes. Don't wear jewelry or nail polish. Eyeglasses must be secured with a fitted strap. Bring a water bottle filled with water.
Uniforms
Uniforms are provided to cheerleaders. Cheerleaders are responsible for paying for other accessories such as shoes, socks, turtlenecks, hairbows, and briefs. All uniforms must be returned, clean, at the end of the season. Note that we do our best to accommodate each child's size, but we must work with the inventory we have.
Practice Times:
The first day of practice will be August 1st at our practice field on Camp Kanata Road, Wake Forest. The younger squads typically practice 2 days a week from 6:00-7:30pm. The older girls typically practice 3 days a week 6:00-8:00pm. However, these times may change at the discretion of the coach.
Games
All regular-season games are scheduled to be played on Saturdays. We typically do not receive the game schedule until a couple of days before the first scheduled game, and there are frequently changes made to the schedule immediately after that. We do not have any control over the schedule. We realize that this can be frustrating, but creating the schedule is very complex. We will let you know what the schedule is as soon as we get it from the Consolidated Football Federation (CFF). We do play games on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, so plan on being here. The regular season generally runs through October. The Flag, Tiny Mite and Mitey Mite divisions usually concludes its their season with an inter-league "bowl" game at the end of the season.
Post Season Competition
Teams in the Junior Pee Wee division and older are eligible to compete in post-season competition based on their win/loss record. Post-season competition may include regional and national championships and/or invitational bowls which can run through Thanksgiving or into December, if a team goes on to nationals. Each year, the Wake Forest Titans have teams eligible to participate in post-season play. Cheerleaders must accompany their teams to all games.
